Maria Laarni “Lani” Cayetano’s journey to leadership is rooted in her love for public service. Wife of former House Speaker and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, she comes from a political family that has been serving the country for a long time. But it’s her brand of leadership and governance that sets her apart. Elected as the first female mayor of Taguig in 2010, Cayetano has served multiple terms and her administration is synonymous to reforms and people oriented governance.

Taguig City has changed a lot. From an industrial town to one of the most dynamic and fastest growing cities in Metro Manila. With the rise of Bonifacio Global City (BGC) as a financial and lifestyle hub, Cayetano has taken on the challenges and opportunities that comes with urbanization. Her administration has focused on making Taguig not just a business center but a city that has opportunities for all its residents. By investing in infrastructure, health, education and social services, Cayetano has made progress in improving the quality of life in both urban and suburban areas of the city.

One of her notable achievements is the continuous improvement of public health services. Taguig’s local health system which includes various health centers, hospitals and community health programs has grown significantly under her watch. The city’s proactive approach to healthcare especially during the COVID-19 pandemic has been commended for its efficiency in vaccine rollout, testing and patient care.
